Dani Burlison has been a staff writer for a Bay Area alt-weekly, a columnist for McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and a book reviewer for the The Los Angeles Review. Her writing appears in Chicago TribuneKQED ArtsThe Rumpus , WIRED, Utne Reader, Bitch Magazine, Spirituality & Health Magazine, Ploughshares Literary Magazine, Hip Mama Magazine, Shareable, Rad Dad Zine, Chevy Culture Magazine, Prick of the Spindle, Know Journal, Bike Monkey, elephant journal, The North Bay Bohemian, sparkle & blink and others.  She is an alumna of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers, Lit Camp and the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference and has upcoming work in various online and print publications and a handful of anthologies. Her collection of essays was published in Fall 2013 and she is currently working on her second book.

Dani is the co-founder of Petals and Bones writing workshops and zine along with Leilani Clark and offers  creative writing workshops in the Bay Area in addition to teaching autobiography writing to older adults at Santa Rosa Junior College. She co-hosts the Get Lit reading series in Petaluma with writer Kara Vernor.

The seventh of nine children born into a large working-poor family in a rural Northern California farming community, Dani weaves humor, honesty and a passion for social justice into her writing. She is obsessed with Leonard Cohen, holds an MA in Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Community from New College of California and lives in Sonoma County California with her two teen daughters.
